Shakespeare

Good meeting last night and lots of discussion for so flimsy a book!
Sorry had to dash off and hope arguments carried on over a pint
See, am blogging like a trouper now-you won't be able to shut me up

  1. Gail you forgot to say what the book was!
Bill Bryson's 'Shakespeare' was a real disappointment for me; not enough about the man or his plays/poems. As I said at the meeting, the book's a doughnut with a hole at the centre where there should be our greatest and most influential writer.

  2. Now I'm confused. Have suddenly got one star after my blog-does that mean someone's rated it as no good? Well, I'm only just starting...

  3. No Gail, that star is related to the book. See Karl's comment below.

Anyway I thought the book was deeply disappointing. Where it should have told us about Shakespeare the man, the writer and his work there was nothing but an emptiness. I enjoyed Byson's debunking of alternative authors of 'the works' but the rest of the book was a let down.
